Celebrating its 10th year as the title sponsor of the GI TVG Pacific Classic, TVG will shine this weekend's spotlight on one of the country's leading Thoroughbred aftercare organizations, California Retirement Management Account (CARMA), and will donate more than 5,000 face coverings to backstretch communities at its partner tracks in California, New Jersey, Kentucky and other states beginning this week, TVG announced Thursday.
“As part of celebrating our 10th year as the title sponsor of the TVG Pacific Classic, we wanted to reaffirm our support of CARMA and the tremendous work it does to ensure the humane aftercare of our equine athletes, and we also want to express our appreciation to the hardworking men and women who are the heart of the sport,” said Kip Levin, the president of FanDuel and CEO of TVG. “The backstretch communities across the US have worked tirelessly to keep racing going throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the distribution of these masks is just a small gesture of our gratitude.”
In conjunction with the TVG Pacific Classic, TVG is making a $25,000 donation to CARMA, a California-based initiative that provides funding for the rehabilitation, retraining and retirement of California-raced horses. TVG's Dave Weaver will also be playing the Pacific Classic Betting Challenge with his entry paid for by TVG and all winnings will be donated to CARMA.
